One-to-one session ideas

Your session will be put together based on your ideas and needs.

To make sure you get the most out of your one-to-one training, it's important that you are clear on what you want as an outcome. Here are some ideas of what you could request.

Getting started with the basics
If you are new to photography then we can spend the whole day looking at the key settings on your camera to help you get to grips with photography. Topics will include understanding aperture, shutter speed, ISO and how they work together. Understanding mode usage and general camera overrides to get better images.

Close-up and macro
Brush up your close-up and macro skills at a garden location near to you. The summer months are a great time for flowers, more general garden photography and even chasing the wee bugs, bees and beasties that abound at this time of year.

Wildlife
Hone your wildlife photography skills and understand the vital settings for wildlife photography at a local zoo, wildlife park or wetlands location.

Speedlite flash

Build your skills with one or more Speedlite flashes at your pace and for the subjects you want to photograph. An individual session can combine both theory and practical shoot elements on the subject of your choice indoors or outside.

Travel and citscapes
Learn about travel photography at a town or city near you and learn how to plan the day, see images, cope with poor conditions and get the very best travel images. Its also a great day to learn about the use of polarising filters.

Landscape
Understand landscape photography in a beauty spot local to you. Learn how to make the best of the conditions and what needs to combine to get the best results from the conditions on the day.

Low light and interior
A day spent in one of the beautiful cathedrals around the country can teach you so much about your Canon EOS camera's settings and options and understanding how to get the exposures and settings needed for both handheld and interior photography. HDR photography is a useful tool for this kind of photography and we can teach you how to use it to best effect, without it looking 'overdone'.

Software & workflow
We can also offer photo editing software training on how to use Canon Digital Photo Professional or EOS Utility, Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop at your location. The topics covered can be up to you, if you have specific skills you want to develop, or we can run through best ways to optimise your workflow and improve your images with small post-production tweaks.
